Summary
Jean Yves has been working and producing as a self taught jeweller since the beginning of the 80s. His artistic interest started when he was studying art in secondary school with artist and teacher, Brother Jerome Paradis, in Montreal. He found the artistic expression he was looking for, in his jewellery making.
Honoured for his work by the prestigious Jean Marie Gauvreau prize, and an award of excellence in a joint contest of the Metal Arts Guild of Ontario and the Quebec Craft Council in 1998. The following year, he was endowed with a research grant by the Canada Arts Council. His work has been exhibited in Paris, New York, Chicago, Auckland (New Zealand) and is currently showing in Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City and Victoria BC.
Jean Yves works with his wife Odette in Otterburn Park Quebec, and uses sterling silver and titanium. With this intiguing metal he is able to produce different tints using the anodization technique.
