Summary
Ex teacher Howard Mahone has a hobby that intrigues and delights those that see his work. Howard is based outside Calgary and creates "Welcome Bears" using a small chainsaw.
His work requires great patience, in that first he takes the locally growing tree cuts it up and waits for it to dry out. Then he carves the bear in his workshop, using a chainsaw. Once the bear is carved Howard again waits for it to dry further. Finally he applies several layers of paint.
The result is a cheeky welcoming bear that will be happy inside or outside, whatever the weather.
