Caracol Rock Rattles
Summary
Janet Grabner creates fossil imagery inspired by the natural world and the transformation that has occurred where she lives, in the heart of the badlands. Many trips to the ocean have enhanced this vision. Caracol is the Spanish word for snail shell. It is the intrinsic qualities of the shell and other natural objects that are her inspiration. Caracol is what is seen by her eyes, felt by her heart and made by her hands.
Like river stones, these are collected for their distinctive qualities. Each one is hand-formed using stoneware clay. They are fired using a variety of techniques to make each one unique.
