Summary
As a member of the Creeojibwa clan, Noel Ashley was born on Bow Island, Alberta. And received the best education in native art by being able to study under the watchful eyes of Gene Brabandt, a well-known and former instructor at arts of the raven.
He was invited to work together with renowned artists like Norval Morrisseau, Glen Wood, Isaac Bignell, Tim Paul, Pat Amos and Kevin Leycraft.
He enjoys woodcarving and has produced numerous large totem poles, authentic masks and plaques for a national and international clientele.
Noel Ashley is the recipient of many awards including:
award for best 3d work by the Alberta Indian Arts and Crafts Society
award and sponsorship by Canadian Native Art Foundation
grant by the Alberta Art Foundation
playwright award by the Alberta Government
